Foundations for managing risk in aged care
Overview
This one-day workshop will give you a better understanding of risk management and how to adopt an effective risk management approach in your home.
The workshop focuses on working with risk management systems and processes that are based on the Australian risk management standard. Based on analysis of our own assessment data, the workshop also addresses the reasons behind the most commonly not met expected outcomes and other key common risk indicators.
Learning outcomes
Through active participation in this one-day workshop you will be able to:
- demonstrate an understanding of the risk management process in an aged care environment

demonstrate an understanding of how you can use accreditation tools and resources to identify and respond to
potential risks - demonstrate an understanding of risk assessment tools and strategies
- develop plans to mitigate and manage risks at an operational level.
Target audience
This workshop has been developed for aged care staff who want a fundamental understanding of risk management processes and implementation. They may include:
- team leaders
- supervisors
- registered nurses
- quality co-ordinators
