Aged care quality assessment course

Introduction
This course provides a thorough grounding in all aspects of conducting accreditation audits as a registered aged care quality assessor. The course has been designed for people currently employed with us as trainee assessors or who are seeking registration as a registered aged care quality assessor. Successful completion of this course is one of the requirements for becoming a registered aged care quality assessor. However, participants not seeking registration may also find this course beneficial.

Improvements to the training for aged care quality assessors
Prior to August 2009 the approved course consisted of a five day aged care quality assessment course – five days and an assessor orientation - three days.

As part of our commitment to quality improvement, we evaluate all our programs and consider feedback from participants. Many past participants have suggested improvements relating to the sequence of the course and the learning and assessment approach.

We have responded to participant feedback by making the course more interactive so participants can learn, practice and be assessed applying their knowledge and skills. In addition, the sequence of content was changed.

This course is comprised of two parts:

Part one - Assessment fundamentals (aged care) - five days and
Part two - Assessing for the Agency - two days.
