Agency receives quality certification

20th October 2004

The Aged Care Standards and Accreditation Agency Ltd has been accredited to the international quality management standard ISO 9001:2000.

This means the organisation has been externally assessed by auditors, SAI-Global, as having a commitment to consistency and quality in the delivery of its services, managing the residential aged care accreditation process in Australia Government funded aged care homes.

The Chairman, Jim Harrowell said the granting of the quality certification to the company was the culmination of many improvements to the management processes, documents and procedures. In practical terms it means a common set of processes across all offices in all States, a common approach to customers, a commitment to seeking improvements and feedback, and the value to a business that a consistency in common procedures provide.

He said actively that seeking customer feedback, and incorporating improvements, together with trained and committed staff had led to the official certification of the company by the independent auditors this week. The national office in Parramatta, and all State offices had been audited and certified.

"Accreditation of other organisations is our business, so we understand the importance of documenting processes and verifying that what we say we do actually happens with certainty," Mr Harrowell said.

"The symbolic set of quality ticks for our management systems gives comfort to our stakeholders and the public that we are rigorously applying our processes to consistently make continuous improvements to the quality of life for older Australians."
