How can the Agency’s tools assist?
We have produced various tools which can assist assessors in their role. It is a requirement that information in these documents is complied with at all times when undertaking Agency business.

What are the tools?
The tools include:

What are the Assessment modules?
Assessment modules are an adjunct to the Results and processes guide. They are a tool to assist assessors to focus on the key systems and processes of residential aged care homes that ensure the provision of quality care and services for residents. They too can be used by residential aged care homes to assess their own systems.

What is a Better practice identification form?
When an assessor identifies better practice at a residential aged care home, they should consider completing a Better practice identification form. The form is then reviewed by Agency staff both at the state and national levels, and may be used for:

  • sourcing possible speakers for Better practice events
  • sourcing possible articles for use in The Standard
  • identifying sources for use in other Agency promotional, educational and other activities.

After completion, the form should be submitted to the State Manager in your local Agency office.

What are the Entry and exit meeting agenda?
The Entry and exit meeting agenda are used as guides during all entry and exit meetings. More detailed information is in the Audit handbook.

What is privacy information in community languages?
Assessors provide residents and their representatives with information on their rights to privacy and confidentiality in relation to the visit. This information may be handed to individual residents or representatives, or may be left in a central location of the residential aged care home.

We have produced this information in 16 community languages which can be downloaded as follows:

If printing the documents, it is a good idea to print them double-sided.

Please let us know if you believe we should provide this information an additional language.

What is the Results and processes guide?
The Results and processes guide is used to assist assessors and residential aged care homes in identifying and considering results and processes for expected outcomes in order to assess compliance with the Accreditation Standards.
