Quality of Care Quality of Life
Minister for Ageing, the Hon Julie Bishop will launch The Aged Care Standards and Accreditation Agency Ltd's DVD on Thursday, 21st July at the Agency?s Better Practice in Aged Care event.
The DVD Quality of Care Quality of Life features the stories of actor and singer Tom Burlinson and his dad Tony, Steve Tracey and his mother Ella, and nursing and management staff from the aged care industry.
The Agency Chief Executive Officer Mark Brandon said Quality of care Quality of life is aimed at older Australians and their families who are thinking about moving into aged care. “It can be a fearful and worrying time and this DVD aims to lessen those fears and help people feel like they are not alone,” Mr Brandon said.
“It is reassuring for older people and their families to know that the Agency is there to ensure all homes meet certain standards and continue to improve in order to provide the excellent care older Australians deserve,” Mr Brandon said.
The DVD explains the role of The Aged Care Standards and Accreditation Agency Ltd, the Accreditation Standards that all homes must meet, and highlights the positive aspects of aged care in Australia.
“More than 96% of almost 3000 aged care homes in Australia meet all 44 of the expected outcomes, but if a home doesn’t, the Agency is there to help management act quickly to resolve any problems,” Mr Brandon said.
All aged care homes will receive a copy of the DVD to have available for potential residents and their families.
